Emmanuel's Family Ministry is intentional about fostering growth in full devotion to Jesus!

Overview

Emmanuel's role on Sunday mornings is to support and encourage the ministry of parents by faithfully teaching and modeling God’s Word to the children participating in Sunday morning activities. Accordingly, our teachers, helpers, and paid caregivers pledge to treat each child with respect and dignity, keeping them safe and secure, while fostering their growth in full devotion to Jesus.

Emmanuel takes seriously the safety of children. We have a Child Abuse Prevention Policy (CAPP), which complies with Virginia standards and governs Emmanuel's family ministry teachers, helpers, and paid staff. Child abuse prevention training and teacher training will be provided annually.

Ministry Priorities

Child Targeted
Following the model of Jesus we seek to make the gospel directly accessible to children in order to create a ministry that reaches, teaches and loves them well.

Safe
We will create a positive environment where all children feel safe and parents know we have their child’s best interest as a top priority.

Relevant
We will strive to help children see that the Bible is written for them and is applicable in their lives.

Engaging
We will strive to create an atmosphere where kids will want to return week after week.

Welcoming
All children and families will be welcomed at Emmanuel.

E-kids | Nursery

under 2

Emmanuel offers one classroom for its youngest attenders: children between 6 and 24 months. A minimum of two caring adults supervise nursery classroom from week-to-week. These are consistent, vetted and screened, paid caregivers or volunteers.

Emmanuel seeks to provide a safe, healthy, and stimulating environment where young children feel not only loved, but confident to learn and explore.

Worship Service (10:30am-12:00pm)

General Information

Bring a diaper bag (clearly labeled) with the following items:
  • 1-2 diapers
  • wipes
  • bottle or sippy cup
  • change of clothes

Dropping off: 'Looking in' on OR staying for a prolonged period of time in the classroom may cause unnecessary upset not only to your own child, but to other children in the classroom. Because of this, our caregivers are prepared to receive your child at the door and will not hesitate to contact you if your child is upset while in service. We ask that after you tell your child you "love them" and you "will be back," to leave your child with our capable caregivers being assured you will be contacted if necessary.

Sanitization: Toys are wiped down each Sunday.

Allergies: If your child has an identified allergy, we want to know! We will prominently note your child's allergy on their Emmanuel name tag.

Plan to feed your child before or after service outside the classroom. Due to allergies, we ask you to not feed your child food from home inside the classroom. Emmanuel provides plain Cheerios and Goldfish for snack.

Note: Strollers should not enter the classroom and can be left in the hallway right outside a child's classroom.

E-kids | Preschool

General: Preschoolers will start off their morning in service with a parent or caregiver and then connect with their teacher during the "greeting" time of the service.
  • Children’s Church: Preschoolers are invited to participate weekly in Emmanuel’s Sunday morning classes: There will be a younger Preschool Class and an older Preschool Class.
  • Teachers: Emmanuel's Sunday morning teachers are committed volunteers from the congregation. Our teaching teams are passionate about sharing God's love with preschoolers, as well as, encouraging their growth in full devotion to Jesus.
  • Safety: Teachers are vetted by the leadership of Emmanuel and have submitted to a criminal background check.
  • Allergies: If your child has an identified allergy, we want to know! We will note his, or her allergy on their Emmanuel issued name tag. Because others in the classroom may have allergies, we ask that you do not bring food from an outside source unless you plan to feed your child before or after service, outside of the classroom. For our preschool aged children, we provide Gold Fish or graham crackers for snack.

E-kids | Sick Child Policy

  • Nasal discharge that is either green or yellow
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Eye Infections
  • Continuous coughing

  • Any infections that require the use of antibiotics**

*Your child must be fever-free for 24 hours without the use of Tylenol (or other similar medication) before entering the nursery or Sunday morning classrooms.

**If your child is taking antibiotics for an infection they must take the medication for a period of 24 hours and be fever free, for the same amount of time, before entering a classroom.
