Birth Announcement
Laureline Anne was born August 31, to Catherine and Jimmy!  If you would like to provide a meal, please contact Kristy Clifford.

Calling All Creative Types
Writers/Visual Artists, Musicians/Dancers/Actors etc. are needed to take part in the first-ever Emmanuel Writer/Artist Collaborative Challenge. Writers will team with an art partner, the artist creating a response piece to the poetry or prose of the writer. This project corresponds with the upcoming City in a City sermon series on calling. Results will be showcased on Arts Sunday, November 7. Contact Lynn Westergren or Liz Jarvis.

Crown Financial Ministry at Emmanuel
Emmanuel will be sponsoring a Crown Financial Ministries class beginning the first week of September. Conducted in small group formats, Crown teaches participants what scripture says about finances. Tentatively, groups are scheduled for Thursday nights or Sunday before worship. Please contact Robert Clifford for more information.

Parking on Sunday Morning
(Parking Map)
In order to maximize street parking for visitors and newcomers, please consider parking in the paved lot off of N. Lincoln St; the lot of the black building with red trim directly across the street from GMU (corner of Fairfax Dr. and Kansas St.); or in the VA Square Dental (920 N Kansas St.) lot. Remember to place an Emmanuel bulletin on your dashboard. Since GMU is metro accessible, we also encourage people to take the orange line to the Virginia Square metro station.  There is a Federal Parking garage off Washington Blvd. You can park in the "retail parking" spots for $4 for up to two hours or $6 for three hours.  (From the P1 level, you can use the outdoor walkway to the GMU original building.)

Volunteers Needed for Sunday Morning Sound
Volunteers are urgently needed to assist with sound setup on Sunday mornings. No special knowledge is needed. The only requirements are: a willingness to learn, the ability to be at GMU by 8:30 am on Sundays, and a strong back. If you are interested, please contact Chris McGahey.

Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC)
September is Hunger Action Month. Please join us Thursday, September 2, 6:30-8:30pm at Busboys and Poets in Shirlington for AFAC’s Hunger Action Month Kick-Off. There will be live music, poetry and information on how you can help fight hunger in our community. Admission is a $10 donation to AFAC and a non-perishable item. If you or your Community Group would like to learn about more ways to serve AFAC, please email Dan Salazar.

Mercy Fund Offering
Every fourth Sunday, we collect an offering used to provide assistance to meet the short-term material needs of people in our church and community. Those in need or know of anyone with a need are encouraged to contact Emmanuel Elders.

Sunday Food Drive
Every fourth Sunday, Emmanuel collects non-perishable items to donate to Arlington Food Assistance Center.  Click here to see items especially needed. Contact Young Lee with any questions.

Sunday Operations
Emmanuel relies on the gifts and work of its members and regular attendees for its Sunday services.  Whether it's preparing the bread and wine for communion or posting signs around the lobby, this is essential in helping the community worship together. To learn more about serving one Sunday per month, please contact Ben Akins.

Got Coffee?
We’re looking for volunteers, willing to help bring coffee for Sunday services -- on a weekly, monthly, or emergency basis. Contact Joshua Edmonds if interested.
